Both of his parents were opera singers. He began studying music at the age of 6. He played piano, toured and performed with various bands, cabaret acts and dance troupes. Then he became a singer, released his first album in 1982, and toured with his band. In 1983 he began to perform without accompaniment ( a cappella ). He produced different sounds and rhythm with his body and voice. During the 1980s and 90s he continued composing and recording, and won several Grammy Awards. His song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" topped charts worldwide. He is considered on of the most important "a cappella" singers of our time because of his remarkable vocal abilities.
